Kodiak Fisheries Research Center

Kodiak, Alaska

The Kodiak Fisheries Research Center is a state of the art multi-agency fisheries research facility, strategically located on the edge of the Gulf of Alaska—home to the vast North Pacific fisheries regime. The facility also serves as a community resource and educational center. The building was designed to take advantage of the outstanding surrounding views while resting respectfully within the natural landscaping by the chosen color palette. The building expression represents the high-tech nature of the work within yet subtly reminds one of the Kodiak cannery vernacular represented by the use of concrete and metal panels.
