Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) Terminal Connector

Anchorage, Alaska

The complex Terminal Connector at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport fulfills a long-standing desire to link the existing North and South Terminals with an enclosed pedestrian walkway. The project totals 11,900 SF and includes support spaces. The walkway is configured in a gentle 'S' curve with a large expanse of glazing to afford views of the Chugach Mountains and unique sneak peeks of jets at tarmac-level. The design incorporated display cases that highlight Alaska culture and aviation treasures. This curtainwall expression complements the existing façade of the new South Terminal. The challenging site was tightly constrained between existing roadways, aircraft and equipment movement patterns, and jet-blast zones.
